John Venables speaks at Global Superyacht Forum November 2006 John Venables, President of VT Naiad Marine, served as a featured speaker and panelist during the Engineering Forum held in the main auditorium of the 2006 Global Superyacht Forum (GSF) in Amsterdam. The GSF is a four-day event attended by approximately 500 of the yacht industry’s key players, and is billed as “The global forum dedicated to the future success of the superyacht business.” In his presentation, Mr. Venables discussed Motion Control Applications of new stabilization technologies for comfort underway and at anchor, and what he termed “The Comfort Imperative” of yachting and enjoyment of the sea. Topics also included the diversity of hull forms and associated motion control solutions, technology transfer among the naval, commercial and leisure marine sectors, and 18 Case Studies with vessels ranging from 11m to 100m, 15 knots to 60 knots, each supported with performance data. Mr. Venables was joined on the panel of experts by colleague Joe Kubinec, Naval Architect and General Manager of VT Maritime Dynamics, an affiliate of VT Naiad Marine’s and a recognized pioneer and authority in ride control.

Bettcher, former President and owner of Van Dusen & Meyer, Inc. and the founder of NAIAD Marine Systems, visits the company's Connecticut operation. Mr. Bettcher acquired the company in 1966, established NAIAD in 1976, and after leading the brand to world leader in yacht stabilizers, retired in 1987. After touring the facility, Mr. Bettcher discussed the company's latest technical developments. A renowned engineer and still spry in his eighties, Mr. Bettcher enthusiastically participated in a discussion of NAIAD's new cutting-edge DATUM control system.
